Women’s Wrestling Begins New Campaign Hosting the Tiffin Open Sunday

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Tiffin University women's wrestling team is set to embark on another challenging campaign as the Dragons prepare for the 2026-27 season. Under the direction of head coach Chandler Minard who enters his fifth year at Tiffin University, the Dragons will once again face a schedule packed with competitive tournaments, duals, and postseason opportunities as they continue to build on the program's success.

The Dragons finished with a 10-9 dual meet record a season ago and return a strong core led by NCAA National Qualifier Annesley Day. Day posted a 41-9 record in 2025-26, highlighted by a third-place finish at the NCAA Region IV Championships, and enters the new season ranked No. 1 in Region IV at 117 pounds. Sophomore Sophia Antonio is also among the region's top returners, earning a No. 2 NWCA preseason ranking at 131 pounds after compiling a 34-9 record last season with a team-high 21 victories by fall. Other Dragons to watch this season include senior Abigail Miller and transfer Kinsey Konrad. Miller brings valuable experience and leadership to the lineup, while Konrad arrives at Tiffin after a standout career at Cerritos College, where she earned JUCO All-America honors twice.

The season gets underway on Sunday, November 1 when the Dragons welcome teams from across the region for the Tiffin University Open, the first of several home events on the schedule. The 'Gons will then head to Michigan for the Alma College Invite on Nov. 8 before competing in both the Adrian College Women's Duals and Adrian College Women's Invitational the following weekend.

December will feature some of the toughest competition of the season as the Dragons travel to Kentucky for the University of the Cumberlands Patriot Duals before returning home to host Alma College in a dual meet on Friday, December 11. The team will remain in town the following day for the Berg Holiday Duals before closing the calendar year at the Northern Duals in Marquette, Michigan on December 18.

The new year begins with the Tiffin University Duals on Jan. 9, and will continue with trips to the Spartan Mat Classic, John Carroll University, and the two-day Warrior Open in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

As postseason competition approaches, TU will travel to face Adrian College on Feb. 4 before hosting Albion College one day later. The Dragons will then turn their attention to championship season as Tiffin University serves as the host site for the NCAA Region IV Championship on Feb. 19-20, giving the team an opportunity to compete for national qualifying spots on its home mats inside the Heminger Center.

The season concludes March 5-6 at the NCAA National Championship in Coralville, Iowa. The Tiffin Open on Sunday is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
