Dragons look to bounce back at Lake Erie

Tiffin University ends its season-opening road trip with a trip to Lake Erie Saturday, Sept. 27 for a 4 pm contest.

Tiffin holds a 9-3 oveall record against the Storm and hold a massive 541-292 scoring margin over that period. TU has not lost to Lake Erie since 2013. Over their last five meetings, Tiffin has outscored the Storm 263-89 including 113-10 in the last two outings.

LAST TIME OUT

Tiffin University (1-2, 0-1 G-MAC) could not get the offense on track at Ohio Dominican, not scoring for the first 44 minutes of the game en route to a 20-14 loss in its conference opener. Overall ODU outgained Tiffin 322-296 while Tiffin had 19 first downs to ODU's 15. Ronald Blackman had 131 all-purpose yards with 85 rushing and 46 receiving.

LAKE ERIE NOTES

Lake Erie enters 0-3 (0-1 G-MAC) with all three losses coming at home. The Storm have been outscored 131-40 which includes a 63-3 defeat against top-ranked Ferris State. Lake Erie was selected ninth in the G-MAC Preseason Coaches Poll. 

Starting quarterback Brady Clark has completed 50 of 89 passes for 529 yards with two touchdown passes. Clark's five interceptions are the most among G-MAC quarterbacks. Wrentie Martin has completed 4 of 6 passes for 26 yards.  

Nick Mosley and Julian Means-Flewellen are two feature backs. Both have rushed 34 times while Mosley has accumulated 187 rushing yards while Means-Flewellen has 127. Mosley has one touchdown.  

Devin Morgan and Ali Lee Jr. are tied for the team lead in receptions with 13. Morgan has 164 receiving yards with one touchdown and Lee has 142 yards. Curtis Thomas has 4 catches for 96 yards with one touchdown. 

Curtis also handles punt returns, returning 5 for 77 yards and he has also returned 8 kickoffs for 165 yards.  

Defensively, Kemari Ward leads the team in total tackles with 19 and Debonair Brown has 17. Other top tacklers include Quinterrius Jemison (13), Dae'Yuan Thompson-Green (11), and DeAndre Goodson (10).  

Conner Hopson has 9 tackles and leads the team in sacks with 2. Jemison and Hopson are tied for the team lead in TFLs with 3.5. Joshua Kabaka has two pass break ups.  

A total of 14 defensive players have recorded at least 0.5 tackles for loss. 

Placekicker Enrique Olmos has converted 2 of 4 field goals while going 4 for 5 on PATs. Punter William Allen Batton IV has punted a conference-high 19 times for 644 yards and has pinned 4 inside the 20-yard line.

Quarterback Alex Johnson is still leading the G-MAC in passing yards per game, averaging 265.3 despite just 203 at ODU last week and his seven passing touchdowns are the second-most in the conference. In total through three games, Johnson has gone 68 for 103 for 796 yards with three interceptions.  

Running back Ronald Blackman leads the team in rushing, carrying the ball 57 times for 227 yards and one touchdown. Blackman averages 75.7 yards per game which is tied for third in the G-MAC. Tyrese Banks-Dorn has 14 carries for 39 yards and one touchdown. Nick Johnson has 6 carries for 25 yards.  

Ethan Holbrook, along with being a lethal punt returner, leads the team in receiving touchdowns with two and has 12 catches for 125 yards. Holbrook will be looking to bounce back this week after being a non-factor in last week's game. Blackman has 14 catches for 166 yards with one touchdown and Emari White has 8 catches for 125 yards and one touchdown. Other top receivers include Jaedyn McKinstry (4-91-1), Will Linkhart (10-106), and Joey Zalewski (7-69-1).  

Holbrook has returned 5 punts for 101 yards with one touchdown and White has returned 7 kickoffs for 160 yards. Holbrook averages 20.2 yards per punt return and that's the most in the G-MAC.  

Defensively, Jacob Tueimeh leads the team in solo tackles (20) and total tackles (31), and the 31 total is the second-most in the conference. Khris Walton has 15 tackles and leads the team in TFLs and sacks with three each. Isaiah Foster has the second-most tackles on the team with 18. Danny Mason and Dennis Crawford both have two pass break ups. Other top tacklers include Ethan Evers and Aidan Fischer with 11 each.  

Kevin Hornbeak has 1.5 sacks while Kris Artis and Uzonna Nzekwe have one each. Danny Mason and Dennis Crawford are tied for the team lead in pass break ups with two each.  

Placekicker Ben Rudolph is 9 for 10 on PATs and 2 for 2 on field goals through three games. Punter Joseph Weiers is leading the G-MAC in average yards per punt with 46.9. He has punted 12 times for 563 yards and has pinned 6 inside the 20-yard line.
