Tiffin University women's lacrosse (8-8) saw their season come to an end on Saturday as the Dragons lost a high-scoring contest 19-17 to Thomas More in Kentucky.
Tiffin got off to a quick start in this one scoring six of the first eight goals in the game. Kenna Wigginton scored with 15 seconds left in the first quarter to put Tiffin on top 7-4 and once the second quarter began, the game changed and went in the Saints' favor.
The Dragons saw their 7-4 lead turn into a 9-7 halftime deficit. Tiffin was outscored 5-0 in the period and saw the Saints score nine of the next 10 goals overall as TMU led 13-8 with 9:27 left in the third quarter. The scoreless second quarter was critical in the outcome of the game.
Another goal by Wigginton cut the deficit to 15-12 at the end of the third quarter. Thomas More scored the first four goals of the fourth quarter and took a 19-12 lead with 8:05 remaining in the game and the seven-goal lead for the Saints was just enough to hold off a late rally by the Dragons.
TU did not go away quietly and scored five goals in the final 3:33 but ran out of time.
Caylin Kunze led the offensive attack scoring seven goals. Lillian Graham scored four goals and Lauren Walsh added three goals. Wigginton scored twice. Katelyn Jarvis had one goal, one assist, and won 16 draw controls. Jarvis also led the team in caused turnovers with three.
