Dragons come from behind for 13-11 win in season finale

Tiffin University (3-9, 2-7 G-MAC) came from behind and played a strong fourth period, outscoring Thomas More 3-0 in the period to win 13-11 in its season finale.

The Dragons fell behind 3-0 early but got on the board with two goals by Jack Howard to make it 3-2, Saints.

A goal by Nate Pearson and another goal by Howard tied the score 4-4 near the end of the first period.

Trailing 5-4 entering the second period, TU scored three goals in a row to take a 7-5 lead. Jack Behre, Matthew Nunnaro, and Sam Trujillo all scored to give TU the lead at the 11:30 mark of the period.

The Saints responded with three consecutive goals to take an 8-7 lead at halftime.

The momentum swung back to the Dragons at the start of the second half as goals by Pearson and Aiden Criteser gave TU the lead 9-8.

As the third period came to a close, the Saints scored three more goals to take an 11-9 lead.

Tiffin saved the best for last, as the defense did not give up a goal in the final 15:00 while scoring four times. Connor Gucwa and Criteser scored to tie the game at 11-11. With 8:48 left, Leyton Roetting scored to give TU the lead, and Gucwa tacked on an insurance goal with 8:03 remaining.

TMU had numerous shot attempts over the final 8:00 but TU goalkeeper Dawson Baker made two big saves to preserve the lead and get the win.

Baker finished with 18 saves over 60:00 for the win. 

Jack Behre led the team with 5 ground balls while Nick Overocker won 12 face offs. Behre, Criteser, and Brady Sortor all had 2 caused turnovers. 

Tiffin outshot TMU 49-48 in a close statistical game. Both teams tied with 28 ground balls and 14 face offs. TU also won the turnover battle 16-14.
