Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Tiffin holds off feisty Storm squad for 12-9 win

Tiffin University women's lacrosse (5-3, 1-0 G-MAC) played their first home conference game of the year on Sunday afternoon and earned a 12-9 victory against Lake Erie, holding off a feisty Storm squad.

The Dragons never trailed in the game, but every time Tiffin built a multi-goal advantage the Storm seemed to have an answer.

With 10:04 remaining in the first half, a goal by Caylin Kunze gave the Dragons a 4-2 lead. Just over a minute later, Lake Erie made it 4-3 and then scored another goal 46 seconds later to tie the game.

Following the game-tying goal, the Dragons took control of the game and built a 9-4 lead following five unanswered goals. Over the final 5:49 of the first half, the Dragons scored three to lead 7-4 going into halftime. Lauren Walsh, Ella Malinowski, and Guinevere Salas each scored one during that period.

2:30 into the third quarter, Salas added two more goals to make it 9-4. Lake Erie cut it to 9-7 following three unanswered goals to make it a two-goal game with 3:30 left in the third quarter.

The Storm cut it to two three different times in the second half and couldn't get any closer as the Dragons responded with a goal each time.

Jessa Zaheri put the finishing touches on this one with a goal with 4:27 left in the game.

TU once again had eight different goal scorers in the game led by Salas's three. Kenna Wigginton and Lauren Walsh both scored two goals. Katelyn Jarvis, Malinowski, Lillian Graham, Caylin Kunze, and Zaheri each had one goal. Zaheri recorded a team-high three assists and Graham added two assists.

Tiffin held a 35-31 advantage in shots and won 14 of the 25 draw controls. TU lost the ground ball battle 24-21 and forced 16 Lake Erie turnovers
