Tiffin University (10-2) ran its winning streak to seven games with a pair of 8-0 wins over West Virginia Wesleyan and Pitt-Johnstown in Clermont, Florida.
In the opener, the Dragons tallied 7 runs in the first two innings. They opened with a bang in the first inning. After
Reagan Mengerink was hit by a pitch and
Jessica Miller Walked,
Molly Koesters drilled a three-run home run with two outs to put TU up 3-0.
In the second,
Baylee Mirgon tripled and came hom on
Lydia Kobie's sacrifice fly. Mengerink singled and Miller followed with a double. After an error at first allowed one run to score, Koesters came through again with a two-RBI single to make it 7-0.
Tiffin got its final run in the sixth. After
Lexi Struble walked, Miller ripped an RBI double.
WVW could not touch Dragons pitching all day as two TU pitchers allowed just 4 total hits.
Jasmin Speth started and went 3 innings for the win, allowing 3 hits.
Scylea Zolman tossed the final three innings for the save, allowing one hit.
In the nightcap,
Ella Esterby pitched even better, going 6 innings and allowing just 2 hits with 10 strikeouts.
The Dragons got four runs in both the third and sixth innings. In the third,
Ryan Wallace singled and was joined on base by Mirgon and Kobie after a fielder's choice and a hit by pitch. Miller than blasted a grand slam to put TU ahead 4-0.
In the sixth,
Tori McPherson singled and
Tara Gall walked. Wallace then walked to load the bases. A Mirgon single knocked in two runs.
Kylee Kleiner then singled in another run. A Miller groundout brought home the final run to end the game.
Tiffin managed 7 hits with Miller accounting for 5 RBIs.
