Tiffin University baseball (6-2) got off to another quick start and led 5-0 before earning an 8-4 win Sunday evening in Florida.
The Dragons jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning following an RBI double by Ty Hatfield and Nate Adelman drew a bases loaded walk.
Griff Cady singled home Andrew Fairbrother in the third and in the fourth, Hatfield added another RBI double while Aidan Grabowski singled home Adam Deitschel to give Tiffin a 5-0 lead.
AU cut the deficit to 5-3 and the Dragons took advantage of errors in back-to-back innings to score three unearned runs to extend their lead to 8-3. Assumption scored one unearned run in the ninth.
Brett Nicodemus got the start and pitched 4.0 innings, struck out four, surrendered one hit and did not allow a run. Patrick Dinnen got the win, pitching 1.0 innings and struck out two while allowing two runs.
Nick Feasel pitched 3.1 innings and struck out three, allowing two runs with one earned. Andrew Baileys recorded the final two outs of the game for 0.2 innings of work.
Hatfield and Fairbrother had three hits each and Hatfield had three RBIs. Jack Clancy and Grabowski recorded two hits each. Adelman and Michael Patellis each drew two walks.
