The Tiffin University men's basketball team (4-6) couldn't get the offense going and dropped their final game in Puerto Rico on Thursday, falling 61-56 to Ana G. Mendez University.
The Dragons started strong as a 13-0 run gave TU a 13-2 lead with 13:58 remaining in the opening half. A jump shot by Demar Burton maintained a double-digit lead as the bucket made it 19-9 with a little over eight minutes remaining. Tiffin was held without a field goal for the final 5:23, and Ana G. Mendez took advantage to tie the game at 23 heading into the break.
The tables turned in the second half, and Ana G. Mendez turned their double-digit first half deficit in the first half into a double-digit second-half lead. An 8-0 run gave them a 44-33 lead with 9:55 left and a layup by Noah Smith cut the deficit to one, 50-49, with 4:24 remaining but the Dragons were unable to get over the hump.
Tiffin played from behind for over 18 minutes in the second half, and left 10 points at the free throw line, finishing 14 of 24.
