The Tiffin University volleyball team (2-9, 0-5 G-MAC) lost in straight sets (18-25, 19-25, 21-25) Saturday night at Ohio Dominican.
In the match, Olivia Karhoff reached 1,000 digs for her career.
In the opening set, the Dragons jumped out to a quick 7-3 after winning six in a row that included kills from Katelyn Owens, Symari Scott, and Kaylee Freund. The Panthers took the lead back 14-11 by winning 11 of 15 points and closed out the set by winning the final three.
The Dragons could not quite climb all the way back in the second set as TU fell behind 6-1 and 11-3. Two kills by Freund cut the deficit to six twice late, but the Dragons could not get any closer.
In the third set, back-to-back attack errors by ODU gave Tiffin a 9-8 lead but the offense and defense of the Panthers propelled them to another run as they took an 18-12 lead. The Dragons didn't go away quietly and won seven of eight to rally to make it 19-19. As is the theme so far this season, TU has trouble finishing strong in sets and that happened again in the third as ODU finished off the sweep by winning six of the final eight points.
Maddie Daniel led TU in kills with 7 and Kat Akolzin recorded 12 assists with Maggie Pavlansky adding 11. Olivia Karhoff and Morgan Morley both had 12 digs and Lexi Barber added 10.
