Dragons start homestand with 1-0 loss to Panthers

The Tiffin University women's soccer team (1-5-2, 0-4-1 G-MAC) began a six-game homestand on Thursday afternoon that resulted in a 1-0 loss against Ohio Dominican which gave the Panthers their first win of the season.

The Dragons' offense has now been shutout in six straight games.

The first half was scoreless with Tiffin recording eight shot attempts while Ohio Dominican had six. The best scoring chance in the first half came in the 15th minute when ODU's shot attempt hit the right post.

ODU really turned up the defensive pressure in the second half limiting the Dragons to four shot attempts. The Panthers scored their goal in the 67th minute. Following a corner kick by the Dragons, the ODU goalkeeper launched a ball downfield to Madeline Hartke who beat a Tiffin defender one-on-one and then rifled a shot into the lower left corner past TU goalkeeper Aubree Lee.

Tiffin got a free kick 36 seconds into the second half in a favorable spot, but Suzy Hayes' shot attempt was saved.

The Dragons had a few scoring chances late. Dani Garner's shot attempt was saved in the 86th minute and with the clock ticking down, Taylor Iden's cross into the box did not find anyone.

Lee played all 90 minutes in goal and took the loss making five saves. Garner and Callie Cacchione both had two shot attempts.
