Dragons look for fourth straight win at Thomas More



Tiffin University (4-2, 3-1 G-MAC) will travel to Thomas More (0-6, 0-4) as the Dragons look to win their fourth straight game Oct. 18.

Tiffin holds a 2-0 record against the Saints, and it has been a lopsided series thus far. Tiffin has outscored Thomas More 98-19 in the two games including a 51-10 victory last season. They had a 47-9 victory in their first ever meeting in 2023.

LAST TIME OUT

Tiffin University lit up the sky against Walsh, totaling 405 yards through the air en route to a 54-7 win. Alex Johnson had a field day, putting together the 7th-best passing day in TU history with 399 yards. Overall TU outgained Walsh 524-180 including 405-94 through the air. They had 25 first downs to Walsh's 12 and held the Cavaliers to 1 for 13 on third downs. 

THOMAS MORE NOTES

Thomas More hosts Tiffin at Republic Bank Field for just their second home game of the season so far.  

Griffin Scalf is the Saints' signal caller. He has completed 81 of 161 passes for 840 yards with one touchdown and six interceptions.  

The Saints do not have a rushing touchdown through six games. Eli White leads the backfield in both carries (64) and rushing yards (226). Demetrick Welch Jr. Has 25 carries for 73 yards, and Davay Hill has 16 carries for 54 yards. Kamalie Pemberton has 20 touches for 48 yards.  

At wide receiver, Javion Bostic leads the way with 20 catches for 228 yards and one touchdown. Duncan Bradley has 10 catches for 185 yards with one touchdown. Cam Williams has 9 catches for 113 yards with one touchdown. Anthony Grossnickle has 13 catches for 109 yards. Other top receivers include Shyhiem Drew (6-59), Brooks Harris (3-54), Demetrick Welch Jr. (6-53-1), and Preston Agee (7-44).  

Josh Kennebrew handles the return game and has 15 returns for 273 yards.  

Elijah Manning is a force defensively, totaling 60 tackles so far which is the most on the team and is the second-most in the G-MAC. Manning has one tackle for loss and 0.5 sacks. Tofa Luani has 43 tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack. Japhia Kennedy has 32 tackles with 2 sacks and leads the team in tackles for loss with 4. Other top tacklers include Avery Bodner (31), Tahj Meadows (25), Obadiah Commodore (24), and Alex Castrucci (22).  

Jaylen Deleon has three tackles for loss and Christian Rice has six pass break ups while Syncere Jones has four pass break ups.  

Luke Iden handles the kicking. He's 4 for 4 on PATs and 4 of 6 on field goals.  

Jackson Trombley has punted 27 times for 1,077 yards and has pinned six inside the 20 with three punts over 50 yards.  

The Saints average 7.5 points per game offensively, the second fewest in the G-MAC while the defense allows 32.2 points per game, the third most in the conference. The most points they've scored in a game this season were 15 in their first home game of the season in which they lost 21-15 to Lake Erie.

Quarterback Alex Johnson is by far and away leading the G-MAC in passing yards per game, averaging 278.3 and his 17 passing touchdowns are also the most in the conference. Overall, Johnson is 130 for 192 with 1,670 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.  

Running back Ronald Blackman leads the team and G-MAC in rushing, averaging 87.4 yards per game. Blackman has 90 carries for 437 yards with two touchdowns. Tyrese Banks-Dorn has 40 carries for 197 yards with two touchdowns. Nick Johnson has 19 carries for 100 yards. Isaac Bunts made his season debut last week and had 14 carries for 35 yards. Daniel Weems has 12 carries for 25 yards. 

Ethan Holbrook leads the team in catches (24), receiving yards (363), and receiving touchdowns (7). Emari White has 19 catches for 251 yards with two touchdowns and Blackman has 19 catches for 217 yards with one touchdown. Other pass catchers include Will Linkhart (17-174-1), Banks-Dorn (12-117), Jaedyn McKinstry (8-177-1), Joey Zalewski (15-136-3), Javier Wills (4-135-1), and Josiah Raber (6-78).   

Defensively, Jacob Tueimeh leads the team in solo tackles (33) and total tackles (54) and has forced two fumbles. Malik Baker has 31 tackles, one interception, five pass break ups, one forced fumble, and is the reigning G-MAC Defensive Athlete of the Week. Isaiah Funches-Foster has 31 tackles and one interception. Aidan Fischer and Khris Walton both have 27 tackles and Walton leads the team in both sacks (5) and tackles for loss (5.5). Ethan Evers has 25 tackles and one interception. 

Dennis Crawford leads the team with nine pass break ups. Uzonna Nzekwe and Kevin Hornbeak both have 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.  

Placekicker Ben Rudolph is 23 for 24 on PATs and 5 for 7 on field goals. Punter Joseph Weiers is leading the G-MAC in average yards per punt with 45.8. He's punted 22 times for 1,008 yards and has pinned 11 inside the 20-yard with six punts of over 50 yards. His longest punt of 69 yards is also the top mark in the conference.  

The Dragons have the highest scoring offense in the conference, averaging 31.8 yards per game. The defense is fifth in the conference, allowing 18.3 points per game.
