Tiffin University's
Ramon Rodriguez has been named USTFCCCA Men's Cross Country National Athlete of the Week.
Rodriguez picked up another win at the Lewis Invitational, crossing the line first in 23:44.15. The time was also the second-best 8k time in school history. He helped lead the Dragons to a 12th place finish in the 37-team field.
Breaking out the record book, that mark sits third all-time at the meet behind Dayton Brown of Saginaw Valley State and Ryan Hartman of Augustana (S.D.), a pair of top-10 finishers at the NCAA DII Championships.
This marks the fourth time a male athlete from Tiffin has been named M-F National Athlete of the Week during the cross country season. Rodriguez joins
Talel Khalfi and two-time winner James Ngandu.
Rodriguez also has wins at the Tiffelberg Invite and was runner-up in his other race this year at the Lucian Rosa Invitational.
