The Tiffin University volleyball team (2-10, 0-6 G-MAC) suffered another sweep, falling at Northwood in straight sets (22-25, 17-25, 20-25) Friday night in a north division matchup.
The opening set was the closest of the three despite the Dragons dropping the first six points and 12 of 15. Trailing by five late, Parker Vackert recorded back-to-back that ignited a four-point run for the Dragons which made the deficit 22-21. Tiffin could not tie it and did not hold a lead in the set as Northwood won three of the final four points.
TU jumped out quickly in the second set 6-2. The Dragons got kills by Maddie Daniel, Kaylee Freund, Jada Shade, and an ace by Katelyn Owens. The Timberwolves regained momentum with two big runs, turning an 11-9 deficit into a 15-11 lead after winning six straight. After the Dragons won two in a row to cut the deficit to 18-15, Northwood again went on a six-point run to finish strong.
An early TU lead in set three was erased with the Timberwolves winning five in a row to lead 7-3. Tiffin could not regain the lead the rest of the way and got within three points a few times but could not get any closer.
Daniel and Freund each recorded seven kills while Maggie Pavlansky had 14 assists and Kat Akolzin added eight. The Dragons were led defensively by Morgan Morley and Olivia Karhoff, who finished with 14 and 10 digs, respectively.
