Tiffin University men's and women's track and field competed in the Findlay Alumni Classic hosted by Findlay yesterday (Jan. 17) afternoon.
The event was scored, with the men's team placing first out of four teams while the women placed third out of four.
Men's highlights:
Octavious Joe set new personal bests in the 200, 60 hurdles, pole vault, and high jump that included a first-place victory in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.94 seconds. Kameron Walker set a personal best in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.52 seconds to earn first place.
In the 600, Lewis Cotterill placed first in a time of 1:22.30. In the long jump, Masakala Amuri placed first with a personal best of 6.86m (22' 6.25"). Brock Carlson took first place in the shot put while Thomas Nelson took first place in the weight throw with a personal best mark of 19.37m (63' 6.75").
Women's highlights:
In her first collegiate meet, Nevaeh Lewis won the 60 meter dash in 7.58 seconds and placed second in the 200 meter dash. Caliyah Wallace won both the 200 and 400.
Kaitlyn Gum placed second in both the shot put and weight throw while C'airra Carter placed third in the high jump.
Both teams will be back in action at home next Saturday, January 25 as the Dragons will host the Tiffin Open at the Heminger Center.
