The Tiffin University men's basketball team (4-12, 2-6 G-MAC) fell behind 25-4 in just under 10 minutes to start the game and the deficit was too much to overcome as the Dragons lost 85-50 against ninth-ranked Findlay on Saturday afternoon at the Gillmor Center.
The Oilers scored the first two points of the game and led the entire game. Findlay used a 14-0 run to take a 25-4 lead with 10:43 remaining in the first half as the Dragons were held without a point for over four minutes.
Despite the uphill climb the Dragons had to make the rest of the way, TU made a run late in the first half to cut the deficit to 11 going into the break. An 11-2 Tiffin run made it 34-23 with 3:38 left in the half and Findlay led 38-27 at half. The big difference in the first half was Findlay taking advantage of Tiffin turnovers, scoring 17 points off 10 turnovers.
At the first media timeout of the second half, the Dragons trailed by 13 and Findlay as able to extend their lead and not allow Tiffin to make a run. A 9-2 run by the Oilers gave them a 57-36 lead with 11 minutes remaining. Findlay shot 56 percent in the second half and knocked down six three-pointers as they led by as many as 38 while holding the Dragons to just 23 points.
Dekyre Fuller, Tiffin's leading scorer, was held to just one point. Jonah Nesmith, D'monyae Davis, and KJ Pruitt scored seven points. Caleb Bates had five points and nine rebounds. Pruitt grabbed six rebounds and DJ Gooden had five points. John Muhammad finished with four points, four assists, three rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
The Dragons will be back on the road on Thursday, January 23 as they travel to play Lake Erie. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. as the Dragons will be looking for the season sweep against the Storm.
