Dragons conclude long road trip with victory at Ursuline

The Tiffin University volleyball team (7-4, 2-1 G-MAC) concluded their season opening 11-game road trip with a four-set victory at Ursuline on Saturday (25-21, 25-19, 24-26, 25-15).

The Dragons faced an 8-5 deficit in set one and 17-13 later on but rallied to take set one. TU scored the next five with Olivia Karhoff adding a kill and Taylor Peterson and Wakaya Wilson both recording blocks. After UC tied it at 18, the Dragons won seven of the final 10 points of the set and Kenedi Goon clinched it with a kill.

Tiffin led from the get-go in set two. A service ace by Addison Conti put the Dragons on top 12-7 and TU increased their lead to 17-9 on a kill by Wilson. UC tried to rally back but could only get within five and the Dragons won the set on the first career kill by Caelyn Bradley.

The two teams exchanged runs in the third set. UC scored eight straight to turn a 12-10 deficit into an 18-12 lead. TU won seven of the next eight to tie it at 19. A kill by Katelyn Owens tied the set again at 24 but it was the hosts who won the final two points to avoid being swept.

The Dragons rallied in the fourth set after losing the first six points. A kill by Karhoff sparked an eight-point rally as the Dragons took the lead for the first time, 13-10. UC would win the next four to take the lead back, but it would be all Tiffin the rest of the way as the Dragons won 12 of the final 13 points to win the match. Kaylee Freund and Goon recorded one kill each during the final stretch and Karhoff served two aces.

Maggie Pavlansky led the team with 26 assists and Karhoff led the way defensively with 18 digs and Morgan Morley added 10 digs. Goon recorded a team-high 12 kills.

The Dragons host Findlay next Saturday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. for their home opener inside the Gillmor Center.
