Following a red-hot start to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament, the Dragons matched up with Trevecca Nazarene in the championship final for the first time this season, suffering a 14-9 defeat.
Logan Swonger got Tiffin on the board early after firing a two-run home run to right field in the top of the first to take a 2-0 lead. However, the Trojans scored in bunches, plating four runs in the bottom of the second and following a solo shot to right by
Ty Hatfield in the third, scored three more to extend the lead to 7-3.
TNU extended its lead to as many as eight runs at the end of inning number seven. The Dragons did not back down, recording a four-run top of the eighth to cut the deficit to just three runs. Trevecca's offense proved to be too much for Tiffin as the Trojans lifted three solo home runs in the bottom half to extend the lead back to six en route to their fifth G-MAC tournament title.
Tommy Thamann led the Dragons with three base knocks, ending 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
Andrew Fairbrother and Swonger both tallied two hits on the day as well while Swonger finished with a team-high two RBI's.
