Tiffin University competed at the NCWWC National Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Jenavi Alejandro (109 pounds) had success early but an injury shortened her day and resulted in an 8th-place finish.
Alejandro opened with two wins, outpointing Elmira 10-0 and then pinning East Stroudsburg in 2:52. She then fell in a tough defeat by fall in 5:20 to Kaelani Shufeldt of Lock Haven. Alejandro then bounced back to post a tech fall win 11-1 over Adrian. She was then forced to drop her final two matches by injury default, settling for 8th place overall.
The only other win on the day for Tiffin was from
Grace Jones (116). After losing by fall in 1:02 to Emmanuel, she pinned Minot State in 1:39. She was unable to carry on, however, falling to East Stroudsburg 8-0.
At 130 pounds,
Ariana Carrasquillo dropped her two matches 12-2 to Wisconsin Stevens Point and by fall in 2:21 to East Stroudsburg.
At 136,
Tatiana Bermudez fell in 1:26 to Huntingdon and by 10-0 margin to Wisconsin Stevens Point.
At 155,
Erin Martin lost a close 7-2 bout to Emmanuel and a 9-0 match to Mount Olive.
Lastly, at 170 pounds,
Sidney Ramos fell 10-0 to Iowa and by fall to Colorado Mesa in 2:22.
