The Dragons (2-3) struggled to contain the Valkyries offense in the first half, leading to a 26-6 defeat in game two of their South Carolina road trip.
Â
Tiffin was outshot heavily 42-16 in total for the game, most of which came in the first half. The Dragons were also outnumbered in draw controls, 20-15, and ground balls, 13-6.
Â
The Valkyries opened with the first three goals of the game before
Katelyn Jarvis netted the first for Tiffin on an assist by
Brenna Bohan. The two sides traded blows back and forth as the Dragons stayed within two at 5-3, following goals from
Caylin Kunze and Bohan.
Â
That is as close as they came, however, as it would be all Converse from that point on. The Valkyries closed out the first quarter with four consecutive goals.
Lauren Walsh tallied the first goal of the second quarter just 15 seconds in before Converse responded with nine-straight to take a commanding 18-4 lead at the half.
Â
The Dragons would score just once in each of the remaining two quarters.
Lillian Graham scored her first of the game in the third quarter before Bohan netted her second in the fourth.
Â
Bohan finished with two goals and two assists for a total of four points, her second-highest output this season, while adding a team-high seven draw controls. Jarvis added five draw controls followed by Graham with three.
Brookelynne Brewer ended with two caused turnovers and a ground ball as well.
Â
Jenay Rennie made six saves in roughly 38 minutes in front of goal followed by freshman
Sarah Hart who recorded the first three saves of her career.
Â
The Dragons will now close out their South Carolina trip with a game against Newberry on Saturday, March 9 at 11 a.m. before returning home for their home-opener.
