The Dragons (2-3, 2-3 G-MAC) put in two strong performances to record their first wins of the season, first on the road at Malone, 15-4, followed by a thrilling 12-11 victory over Mercyhurst at home.
Tiffin put on a dominant display at Malone, jumping out to a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and extending it to six by the halftime break. The Dragons added two more points in the third quarter and a further six points in quarter number four.
Kaiah Hicks and
Riane Todd were the only two Dragons on the floor for all 16 routines and both led the team with a rating of 30. The pair was followed closely by
Madeline Miller and
Rajah Little with 29.
The Dragons then returned home to play host to Mercyhurst University in what ended as a thrilling fourth-quarter comeback. TU held the slight advantage at the half, leading 5-3 before the Lakers scored three in the third to take a 6-5 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
Tiffin outscored Mercyhurst 7-5 to take the 12-11 victory. Four Dragons posted a rating of 32 including
Karli Liming,
Brianna Richards, Hicks, and Todd.
The Dragons will now head to Pepper Pike, Ohio next Sunday, March 10 for a doubleheader against both Walsh and Ursuline.
