Dragons compete at D2 Championships, Donathan reaches Semifinals

Tiffin University's Zack Donathan is off and running in his quest to repeat as NCAA Division II 141-pound national champion.

Donathan won his two matches on day one, reaching the semifinals on March 16. He opened with an 8-1 win over Kody Ketchum of Maryville and then blasted past Isham Peace of Lander in a tech fall win 24-4. He will now take on Ryan Schuelke of McKendree in a bid to reach the national title bout.

Anthony Aniciete (125 pounds) also opened with two wins. He beat Jose Diaz of Gannon 9-3 and Conor Knopick of St. Cloud State 4-2. In the quarterfinals, though, he fell to Shane Corrigan of Wisconsin-Parkside 9-5. He then was knocked out in the next round by Trevon Gray of Pitt-Johnstown 4-2.

Tiffin's other two competitors failed to win a bout. Max Shore (133) lost two razor thin decisions, falling to Ryan Wehner of Lake Erie 9-8 and Ryan Ripplinger of McKendree 5-3. David Davis (174) lost by pin to Seth Brossard of Northern State in 1:38 before losing to Gus Dalton of Colorado Mesa 10-4.
