The Dragons got off to a solid start at the Great Midwest Indoor Championship, collecting second place in three different events and sitting in third place overall at the end of day one of competition.
Dalton Gleeson kicked off the scoring for the Dragons, placing second in the 5000-meter with a provisional time of 14:25.14. Also scoring points for the Dragons was
Jaden Wimbush who finished seventh in 15:01.03.
In the long jump,
Josiah Gadson brought in eight points for TU as well after placing second with a provisional mark of 7.29 meters.
The final second place finisher came in the weight throw as
Jacob McPherson tossed 20.81m, also setting a provisional mark. He was followed by
Vincent Volpe in fifth with a mark of 19.77m and Thomas Nelson in ninth with 18.94m who also tallied points for the Dragons.
The high jump saw both
Garrett Hoepf and
Pieter Wise tie for fifth place with a mark of 1.90m, collectively bringing in five points as well.
Nathaniel Ondracek, Joshua Page,
Lewis Cotterill, and
Talel Khalfi combined for a fifth place finish in the distance medley relay with a time of 9:53.41.
Finally,
Cade Carter tallied a point in the pole vault with an eighth place finish and posting a mark of 4.76m.
The conference championship continues tomorrow, beginning with the men's triple jump at 10:30 a.m.
