The Tiffin University men's track & field team continues to improve as the indoor season progresses. Strides were made as the Dragons competed at the GVSU Big Meet on Friday followed by hosting the Tiffin Open #3 on Saturday.
Friday – GVSU Big Meet
TU sent a small squad to Grand Valley State to compete in both the 200 and 800-meter races.
Lewis Cotterill and
Nathaniel Ondracek performed well in the 800-meter as Cotterill placed fourth in 1:50.97 followed by Ondracek in sixth with a time of 1:51.18. Both times were improvements upon their NCAA DII provisional times and rank third and fourth in the G-MAC respectively.
Joshua Page ran the 200-meter race, placing 10th overall in 21.76 seconds.
Saturday – Tiffin Open #3
Saturday's highlights began in the 60-meter dash as
Donte Sol took first place in 6.70 seconds, improving his provisional time and posting the second-fastest time in the G-MAC behind
Malachi Adams who finished second in 6.73.
Dylan Randall rounded out the top three with a time of 6.79 seconds.
Sol picked up another first-place finish in the 200-meter race, recording a time of 22.18 seconds followed by Jarvis Barber Jr. in third (22.89). Adams, Sol, Barber Jr. and
Michael McNeil combined to place first in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:29.13.
McNeil earned an individual victory after placing first in the 400-meter, posting a time of 51.35.
In the field events,
Jacob McPherson put on yet another strong performance as he took first in the shot put with a 16.91m-mark and second in the weight throw with 20.36m. The long jump was won by
Josiah Gadson, reaching 7.32m.
Cade Carter took second in the pole vault after clearing 4.76m and finally in the triple jump,
Jake Price placed third with a mark of 13.00m.
In one week's time, the Dragons will head to the University of Findlay's Flag City Tune-Up on Friday, February 16.
