Tiffin University (6-5) fell behind in the second quarter and could not make up the difference in the second half, falling to Saginaw Valley State 65-50.
After battling to an 18-14 deficit after one quarter, the Dragons endured an 11-0 run by the Cardinals early in the second quarter to fall behind 29-16 midway through the quarter. Tiffin could not get any closer than 10 points the rest of the half, trailing at the break 36-23.
Tiffin was unable to make up the deficit throughout the second half, as the Cardinals used a strong interior attack to maintain control. SVSU held a 40-31 rebounding edge and outscored TU inside 36-20.
Overall the Cardinals outshot TU 40 percent to 34 percent and also held a 15-9 edge at the free throw line.Â
Megan Campbell was the lone TU player in double figures, totaling 23 points with 6 rebounds while going 10-for-10 from the line.
Riley Irwin had 7 points,
Lyv Lindeman had 6, and
Grace Craig finished with 5 points and 6 rebounds.
Presley Feltner also had 5 rebounds.
