Dragons fall to Findlay in season finale

The Tiffin University women's soccer team (1-15-2, 1-11-2 G-MAC) concluded their 2024 season on Wednesday at the Paradiso Athletic Complex and lost to Findlay by a score of 2-1.

That marks the second time this season that the Oilers have bested the Dragons by a 2-1 score.

The Oilers, fighting for a first-round bye in the conference tournament, came out firing and tallied 13 shot attempts in the first half with seven being on goal. Findlay took advantage of a misplay by the Dragons and got on the board just over four minutes into the contest as Ellie Janszen scored the first goal of the game and the ball was just high enough to where it got over Aubree Lee's head.

Autumn Schweitzer and Sydney McBride recorded shot attempts for the Dragons in the first half, but the Findlay defense shut down the TU offense and held the Dragons to without a shot attempt for the final 22 minutes of the period.

Momentum started to change in favor of the Dragons in the second half. Following four yellow cards by TU, Callie Cacchione tied the game at one a few minutes later in the 58th minute.

Findlay responded with another attack and flurry of shots. The Oilers found the back of the net again to regain the lead in the 80th minute as Ellie Janszen connected with Sydney Noble inside the box. It was a tough break for the Dragons as the game-winning goal ricocheted off the right post and into the back of the net.

The Dragons had a few chances at an equalizer but were held without a shot attempt for the final 11 plus minutes.

Overall, Findlay outshot Tiffin in the match 26-7.

Aubree Lee played all 90 minutes in goal and took the loss while making a season-high 14 saves.
