Game Recap: Volleyball |

Dragons fall to Findlay in straight sets

The Tiffin University volleyball team (10-10, 4-5 G-MAC) got swept by Findlay Saturday afternoon (24-26, 17-25, 19-25) in round two of a north division conference matchup.

Set one ended up setting the tone for the rest of the match. A kill by Kendi Goon gave the Dragons set point with a 24-22 lead. TU's struggles in closing out sets continued as the Oilers would go on to rally and win the final four points to win the set. Findlay took advantage of two late miscues by Tiffin.

The Dragons got off to a quick 2-0 start in set two after a kill by Josie Reinhart, but Findlay answered by winning the next seven in a row. Following the big rally, Findaly led the rest of the way. Back-to-back kills by Goon and Taylor Peterson cut the deficit to 20-16, but the Oilers won five of the final six including the final four in a row.

Set three started the same way as set two, but this time it was Findlay answering with four in a row. Trailing 12-11, kills by Goon and Kaylee Freund along with a combined block by Katelyn Owens and Goon gave the Dragons a 14-12 lead. Findlay once again had an answer and won eight of the next 11 to retake the lead for a 20-17 lead. Two more kills from Reinhart cut the deficit to 21-19, but the Oilers once again finished it out by winning the final four points.

Reinhart led the way in kills with 11 and Goon added 10. Addison Conti led the way in assists with 20 and Maggie Pavlansky recorded 15. Diana Heitkamp recorded 12 digs and Olivia Karhoff recorded 10.

Both teams hit the ball well, but Findlay was slightly better. The Oilers finished with a hitting percentage of .346 compared to Tiffin's .311.

The Dragons are back home on Friday, November 1 to host Walsh inside the Gillmor Center at 7 p.m.
