Aniciete, Donathan win G-MAC titles at conference championships

Two Tiffin University grapplers walked away with G-MAC championships as the Dragons finished second overall the G-MAC Championships in the Heminger Center.

Anthony Aniciete (125 pounds) and Zack Donathan (141) were titles in their weight classes, as Tiffin finished with 102.5 points. Ashland won the team title, finishing just ahead of TU with 109 points. Lake Erie was third with 89.5.

Aniciete had a strong showing with three wins. He won by tech fall over Kentucky Wesleyan 20-5 before outpointing Ashland 7-0. In the title match against Graham Shore of Findlay, he won by pin in 6:05.

Donathan, meanwhile, also dominated and improved to 15-0 on the season. He won by pin in just 22 seconds over Thomas More and then posted a major decision 17-7 over Ashland. His toughest match came in the title match against Lake Erie's Carsen Richards, as Donathan eked out a 4-3 decision.

Tiffin also had two runner-up finishes. David Davis (174) had a 4-1 score over Findlay, a pin fall victory in 2:50 over Kentucky Wesleyan, and a 10-5 victory over Thomas More. He then lost by pin to Nate Barrett of Ashland in 4:34.

Clayton Ours (285) also took second. Ours picked up narrow wins to get to the title match. He won 4-1 in sudden victory over Kentucky Wesleyan and then had a 4-1 win over Ashland to advance to the title bout. He then lost via fall in 32 seconds to Daulton Mayer of Thomas More.

Max Shore (133) finished third, opening with a 17-0 tech fall over Lake Erie before falling 16-8 to Findlay. He bounced back with two wins, posting another tech fall over Ashland 21-5 before registering another tech fall in the third-place match over Kentucky Wesleyan 20-3.

Nolan Gessler (149) also was third. He had two wins early, getting a tech fall 17-0 over Kentucky Wesleyan and a major decision 10-1 over Findlay. He then fell in a slim 5-3 decision to Thomas More but bounced back to finish with a 2-1 win over Lake Erie and a 9-0 win over Ashland.

Casey Barnett (157) also was third, as he had a 15-0 tech fall over Thomas More and a win by fall in 4:11 over Ashland. After a lost via pin in 6:47, he then had a major decision 13-4 over Findlay and a 15-0 tech fall win over Thomas More.

Lucas Salmon (184) was the final third-place finisher, as he opened with a 16-0 tech fall win over Thomas More. He then fell in a close one 8-6 to Lake Erie before finishing with a 6-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan and a 6-3 sudden victory score over Lake Erie.

Three other TU wrestlers took 4th place. Emilio Arellano (165) had two close losses around his sole victory. After falling to Lake Erie 11-10, he beat Ashland 8-5. He fell 2-0 in his third-place match to Lake Erie.

Brayden Benson (174) also was fourth. He opened with an 8-2 win over Findlay, then fell to Ashland 18-2. He then bounced back with a 7-1 win over Ashland before falling to Findlay 4-1.

TU's final placer was Jake Noon (197). He got a pin in 25 seconds over Thomas More, then fell 11-2 to Ashland. After defeating teammate Dean Hetrick 10-3, he fell to Lake Erie by pin in 32 seconds.
