Malone got off to a hot start, outscoring TU 24-10 in the first quarter. The Dragons improved their shooting to 60 percent in the second quarter, but the Pioneers started to pull away at the free throw line, holding a 12-2 edge at the line at halftime.Â
While the Dragons trailed only 17-14 in the second quarter, they faced an overall hole of 41-24 at halftime.
The trend continued for Malone in the second half, as it eventually finished 18 of 21 from the line while the Dragons hit on 5 of 10.Â
Malone also hit five more three-pointers in the game, connecting on 6 of 16 while Tiffin made just 1 of 11 triple attempts.
While Tiffin controlled scoring inside with a 42-26 advantage, Malone won the rebounding battle 35-28.Â
