Tiffin University had two wrestlers advance after day one of the Soldier Salute Open in Coralville, Iowa.

Juliana Alejandro (101 pounds) and Jenavi Alejandro (109) both advanced to the semifinals on Dec. 30. Jenavi was unbeaten on the day, while Juliana had just one loss.

Jenavi Alejandro posted opening wins over Indiana Tech 8-4 and Life 10-0 before winning her quarterfinal match against Texas Wesleyan 11-0.

Juliana Alejandro had a 10-0 win over William Penn and a win by fall over Indiana Tech in 1:31. Her lone loss was to Indiana Tech by pin in 2:01. In the quarters, she beat Indiana Tech 10-0.

The only other TU grappler to pick up a win was Paige Lenhardt (143), who beat William Jewell 10-0. She also had a loss by fall to Texas Wesleyan in 4:25 and a 10-0 loss to Umpqua.

Competition concludes Dec. 30 with semifinal action starting at 11 am.
