Zack Donathan and
Lucas Salmon advanced to day two of the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Overall the Dragons were 27th of 51 competing teams, with Donathan (141 pounds) the sole unbeaten Dragon on the day. He opened with two pins, beating Minnesota State-Moorhead in 3:58 and Mount Olive in 1:33. In the quarterfinals, he dispatched Lander 8-5.
Salmon (184), meanwhile, suffered just one loss. After beating Quincy by pin in 1:19, he lost to Kutztown by fall in 3:44. He bounced back with two wins, outpointing Emmanuel 9-3 and Limestone 5-2.
Anthony Aniciete (125) made it to the fifth round of consolations. He opened with a big 18-8 win over Colorado Mesa before losing by tech fall to Parkside 15-0. He came back strong with a major decision 17-4 over Central Oklahoma but then narrowly fell to Pitt-Johnstown 3-2.
David Davis (174) also picked up a couple victories. He defeated Wheeling by fall in 4:41 and also defeated King in sudden victory 4-1.
Also getting wins on the day were
Casey Barnett (157) 15-4 over New Mexico Highlands, and
Jakob Hurley (165) by sudden victory 9-6 over Newberry.
