Dragons go 1-1 on day two at Kentucky Wesleyan

Tiffin University (4-4) picked up a four-set win over Henderson State after falling to Northern Michigan in four sets, as TU finished competition at the Kentucky Wesleyan tournament.

Against Henderson State, the Dragons won 25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 25-18, holding Henderson State to just a .053 attack percentage.

TU pulled out both of the first two sets by putting late runs together to go ahead 24-20 in each set en route to taking a 2-0 lead.

In set three, tied at 21-21, it was Henderson State that rallied to win four of the final five points to win 25-22. The Dragons, though, bounced back in set four, opening with an 11-2 run to jump ahead 20-12 and put the set away.

Wakaya Wilson had 11 kills, while Kenedi Goon also had 11 kills with 6 blocks. Taylor Peterson added 10 kills, while Rylie Roggow and Alivia Rew also had 6 kills each.

Addison Conti had 21 assists, Clare Kwiatkowski finished with 19 assists, while Diana Heitkamp and Amari Torain combined for 31 digs.

In the opener against Northern Michigan, TU fell 30-28, 20-25, 25-21, 25-10. The Wildcats outhit TU .178 to .127 but TU had its chances.

The Dragons led 24-21 in set one but surrendered four straight points to tie the score 25-25. TU had five set point opportunities in the opening set but eventually fell 30-28.

The Dragons bounced back in the next set, racing ahead to a 19-12 lead before tying the match 1-1.

TU could not pull out the third set, trailing by two points late in the set but losing three of the final four points to fall behind heading into set four.

The Wildcats wasted little time putting the match away, opening on a 19-9 run to take control.

Peterson led the team with 13 kills, while Wilson added 10 kills and 15 digs. Rew and Goon had 7 kills apiece.

Kwiatkowski and Conti combined for 37 assists, and Heitkamp finished with 21 digs.
