Dragons Fall to Rival Findlay 63-58

The Tiffin University women's basketball team lost to the Findlay Oilers 63-58, as the Oilers outshot the Dragons 42.9 percent from the field compared to the Dragons 36.2 percent.

The Oilers improve to 14-14 overall and 12-10 in the GMAC, while the Dragons fall to 13-15 and 10-12 in the GMAC.

Savanah Richards scored the first two buckets of the game with a jumper and a three-pointer to put Tiffin up 5-2. The Oilers battled back to bring the game to 10-9 with 4:14 left in the first quarter. The Dragons outscored the Oilers 5-3 the rest of the quarter to lead 15-12.

The Oilers started the second quarter with a 5-0 run to take their first lead of the game at 17-15. Findlay kept their momentum and went on a 9-1 run to lead 26-16 midway through the second quarter. The Dragons stopped the bleeding with a three from Brianna O'Connor that sparked a 12-2 run to end the half down 30-28.

After halftime, the Oilers came out strong to jump out to a 37-31 lead with 7:26 in the third. The Dragons slowly chipped away at the Oilers' lead and came within five at 43-38 with 1:44 left in the third, but the Oilers hit two free throws at the end of the quarter to go up 45-38.

In the final frame, the Dragons started with a 5-2 run to cut the lead to 47-43. However, the Oilers scored five unanswered points to lead 52-43 with 5:13 left in regulation. The Dragons went on a 4-0 run to cut the lead back to five at 52-47. Findlay extended their lead with a 6-2 run to lead 58-49 at the 1:16 mark. The Dragons had a late 9-5 surge at the end of the game but ran out of time as the Oilers won the game 63-58.

Savanah Richards led the offense with 19 points shooting 7-for-18 from the field and 4-for-11 from beyond the arc, two rebounds, two assists, and one block, Dana Rose tallied 15 points shooting 6-for-9 from the field and 3-for-4 from downtown, with six rebounds, and two blocks, and Jada Tate scored six points shooting 2-for-2 from the field, 10 rebounds, and one assist.
