Dragons Open Conference Play with 5-2 Win Over Walsh

TIFFIN, Ohio - Tiffin men's tennis swept the doubles matches before taking four of six in singles to defeat Walsh 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

The win improves the Dragons record to 8-7 overall, while they pick up their first G-MAC victory in their first opportunity.

Toby Cutting and Nikita Parfenov got things started for TU with a 6-0 sweep at No. 1 doubles. The duos of Gabriel Belli de Oliveira/Tom Arias (6-4, No. 2) and Hugo Chatras/Sorin Navrotchi (6-2, No. 3) also earned victories as the Dragons cruised through doubles action.

Parfenov wasted no time in winning his singles match in the No. 2 spot, 6-0, 6-0. Cutting followed with a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 4 to give Tiffin a 3-1 lead.

In the next match to finish, Arias pulled out a 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 win to give TU their fourth and match-winning point. 

Chatras would add a 6-2, 7-5 victory before the afternoon ended, as the Dragons took the 5-2 win.

Tiffin will continue conference play this Sunday with a road match at Kentucky Wesleyan.
