The 37th ranked Grand Valley State University Lakers were too much for the Dragons to handle on Saturday as the Dragons dropped a 1-8 decision.
1st doubles was another close match as Cutting/Ludena fell in a 6-8 decision that found them losing yet another match via one break. The two have combined for some big wins on the season, but find themselves losing by a break more and more often.
2nd doubles was the closest doubles match as yet again TU let another match slip out of their hands. The captains Fernandes/Mangone dropped a late break in the match to fall to a tough GVSU team in Jack Heiniger/Sebastien Lescoulie 7-9.
3rd doubles had some troubles that haunted them in the early going as Lezama/Kopronica fell 3-8.
1st singles was another hard fought match for TU's Ludena who fell in straight sets 5-7, 3-6. Ludena lost to a late break of serve in the 1st set and ran out of gas late in the second set. Ludena has been tested on all fronts as the Dragons number 1, but as risen to the challenge as of late.
2nd singles was another straight set loss for the Dragons as TU's Lezama dropped a 3-6, 4-6 decision to GVSU's Zach Phillips. Lezama couldn't find his stride in the clutch points and lost both sets by a lone break of serve.
3rd singles was the largest deficit the Dragons saw in scores as the captain Mangone dropped a straight set match to GVSU's Sebastien Lescoulie 3-6, 2-6. Mangone struggled early to find a rhythm and couldn't keep the balls in play that he needed for the win.
4th singles was as close as you can get while still falling as TU's Cutting lost a 6-7, (4-7), 4-6 match to GVSU's Jack Heiniger. Cutting just didn't get the few bounces he needed on the clutch points to finish out the match, but played fantastic net points to keep himself in the match.
5th singles was the lone victory on the day for the Dragons as the freshman Kopronica came through with a 6-3, 6-1 straight set victory. Kopronica, who had to retire due to injury on Thursday, was a force to be reckoned with on Saturday and took any and all points that went his way.
6th singles saw the hero of Thursday's match, TU's Fernandes, fall in a 4-6, 0-6 match to GVSU's Nicholas Urban.
