Tiffin University (11-16, 7-13 GLIAC) hung close but played catch-up most of the night, battling with Lake Erie but coming up short 73-70.
After falling behind 13-2 to open the game, TU fought back and led 32-31 at the half. But the Dragons field goal shooting fell off in the second half, as they dropped from 44 percent in the first 20 minutes to just 34 percent in the second half.
Trailing 56-54 with 6:48 to play, Lake Erie went on a 7-0 run that pushed their lead to 9 points. TU tried to close the gap but the Storm went 7-for-7 from the line in the final 90 seconds to put away the victory.
Overall Lake Erie outshot TU 48 percent to 38 percent and overcame a 43-30 rebounding disadvantage. The Storm also scored 27 points off 16 TU turnovers.
Tony Kynard led the Dragons with 17 points and 7 rebounds but combined with Juwan Johnson to shoot just 6 of 30 from the floor. Alex Brown had 16 points and 7 rebounds while Chrisean Marsden had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Terrell Mabins also had 9 points with 4 assists.
