The Tiffin University women's basketball team fell on Thursday night, losing to the Malone University Pioneers 79-64.
The Dragons' 1st quarter was one of their best this season, pouring in 21 points. The Dragons' defense held the Pioneers to 17 1st quarter points. The 2nd quarter was the beginning of the end for the Dragons. Tiffin managed only 14 points, while the Pioneers collected 15. The Dragons took a lead to the halftime locker room, but the trend of being outscored in a quarter continued in the following half.
At the break, Tiffin was led in scoring by Kaylee Patton's nine points.Ali Schirmer chipped in with eight points, and Allie Miller added seven.
The 3rd period was a rough go of it for Tiffin. Malone opened the quarter on a 17-5 run, and took control of the contest. Tiffin surrendered 24 3rd quarter points while netting only 13. In the 4th quarter, Tiffin allowed the Pioneers to crack the board 23 times, while managing only 16 points for their side. The Pioneers and Dragons have now split the season series, with Malone winning 79-64.
Tiffin was led in scoring by Kaylee Patton with 18 points. Ali Schirmer added 16, and Allie Miller tossed in 10 points.
The loss drops the Dragons to 6-17 overall and 4-14 in GLIAC play.
