The Tiffin University women's basketball team picked up their first GLIAC win of the season on Saturday afternoon, using a strong 4th quarter to defeat the Lake Superior State University Lakers 70-55.

The Dragons struggled early, as the Lakers built a 7-0 lead. Tiffin was held scoreless for over four and a half minutes, before Allie Miller's runner through the lane got them on the board. After that, the Dragons finished the quarter on a 8-2 run to lead 10-9 after the 1st.

The Dragons began to distance themselves from the Lakers in the 2nd quarter, as TU outscored the Lakers 18-10. At the half, Tiffin led 28-19, and it was a team effort in the scoring column, as Kaylee Patton led the charge with six points, but 9 of the 10 players the Dragons sent to the floor scored points. The Dragons feasted on the Lake Superior turnovers, scoring 12 of their 28 total points.

The 3rd quarter was a close one as both teams made runs, and ultimately, it was Lake Superior State outscoring the Dragons 18-17. In the 4th, the Bre Nauman show continued as the Dragons forward poured in a game high 21 points, with 17 coming in the 2nd half. The quarter saw the Dragons lead by 10 at 47-37, and they continued to build that lead with the aid of Nauman's low post scoring. Tiffin pushed the deficit to 18 for the Lakers, and then Lake Superior made their final push. The Lakers cut their deficit to 11 points, but it was too little too late as TU responded, and brought home a 70-55 GLIAC victory.

Bre Nauman scored 21 points on 9-19 shooting, and snagged 12 rebounds. Ali Schirmer added 13 points including a 5-6 performance from the free throw line. The Dragons defense forced the Lakers into 15 turnovers, leading to 19 Dragon points.

The win moves the Dragons to 3-10 overall and 1-7 in GLIAC play. Tiffin will be back in action next Thursday, as they travel to Detroit, Michigan to take on the Wayne State University Warriors.
