The Tiffin University women's basketball team fell to the Lake Erie College Storm on Thursday evening by the final count of 61-49. The Dragons committed 26 turnovers in the contest, leading to 24 Storm points.
The Dragons and Storm played a high tempo 1st quarter, with both sides scoring the most points in any quarter, 22-17. For as high scoring as the 1st quarter was, the 2nd was that slow. The Storm added 14 points to their total, while Tiffin managed only 8 points.
At the half, Lake Erie held a 36-25 advantage. Tiffin shot 45% from the floor, but Tiffin turned the basketball over 15 times, allowing the Storm to take 12 more shots in the half. The Dragons were led in scoring by Bre Nauman with 9 points.
The Dragons fought hard in the 3rd quarter, but still were outscored by Lake Erie 15-13. In the 4th quarter, the Dragons cut their deficit to 10 points, but the Storm's Kayla Gabor answered with a three point bucket. Gabor poured in a game high 26 points for Lake Erie, including five made three point field goals.The Dragons held a 11-10 advantage in the 4th quarter, but it was too little too late as the Storm defeated the Dragons 61-49.
For the Dragons, Bre Nauman led the charge with 18 points and 8 rebounds, Ali Schirmer added 11, and Allie Miller tossed in 11 points as well. The Dragons had trouble holding onto the ball, with 26 turnovers, and were beat on the boards 39-32.
The loss drops TU to 5-13 overall and 3-10 in GLIAC play.
