The Tiffin University Dragon volleyball team opened the 2015-16 GLIAC schedule with a 3-1 win over the Walsh University Cavaliers.
Tiffin won set one 27-25, set three 25-15, and set four 25-21. The Cavaliers won set two, 25-22 for their lone set win. In set one, the Dragons used 19 kills to rack up their 27 total points, and held Walsh to 13. In set three, Tiffin rebounded from their set two loss and used a 6-0 run to take a commanding lead. In the fourth and final set, the Dragons continued their onslaught at the net to pull out a 25-22 win.
For the Dragons, Olivia Cobb and Victoria Turnbough led the way. Cobb had 14 kills and 5 digs for Tiffin, Turnbough added 14 kills of her own, and Amanda Curry chipped in with 11 kills as well. 45 of the Dragons 53 assists came courtesy of Emily Weithman, and Taylor Lattimore continued her excellent defensive play, collecting 23 digs.
The win moves the Dragons to an even 3-3 overall record and are 1-0 in the GLIAC. They'll put their unbeaten GLIAC record on the line tomorrow night, as they stay in Canton, Ohio to take on the Malone Pioneers.
