1st Doubles
TU - Ludena/Almeida vs. WSU - Keating/Charriere
TU's 1st Doubles team of Almeida and Ludena lost a 2-8 decision to Keating and Charriere at the GLIAC tournament on Friday. TU hoped to get a point for the overall match at 1st Doubles with their team being the underdog in the matchup. Almeida and Ludena struggled with consistency all match and were out matched at 1st Doubles.
2nd Doubles
TU - Lezama/Frery vs. WSU - Menta/Kechai
The freshmen duo of Lezama and Frery lost a heartbreaker at 2nd Doubles at the GLIAC tournament on Friday. Lezama and Frery lost 8-9 with their tie break score being 4-7. TU was in the match the entire time and the tension could be cut with a knife as the freshmen who have never been to the tournament played great.
3rd Doubles
TU - Mangone/Fernandes vs. WSU
In another close match TU dropped their 3rd Doubles match by a score of 7-9 on Friday against Wayne State. TU played a tough match with Mangone and Fernandes firing on all cylinders with their patient style of wait and attack tennis. While Fernandes and Mangone haven't had the strongest service games all year, they both served and volleyed well all match, but similar to second doubles, the ball didn't bounce their way and they lost 7-9.
1st Singles
TU - Luis Ludena vs. WSU - Fazyl Kechai
TU's Ludena played a tough match at 1st Singles where he fell 2-6, 2-6. WSU's Fazyl Kechai was too much for Ludena to handle and the WSU win resulted in the 4th point of the match for the Warriors. Ludena struggled out of the gate and couldn't keep up with Wayne State's number 1.
4th Singles
TU - Agustin Mangone vs. WSU - Gopinath Menta
Wayne State's 5th and Final point was secured by Gopinath Menta against TU's Mangone. Mangone played a rough first set losing 3-6, but came back in the second only to fall short 5-7. There was certainly a lot of pressure for the sophomore who hasn't had the year he had last year. In the end, Wayne state was able to attack the weaker points of Mangone's game and they secured the match 5-0.
