$website.include("options")

Tiffin University fell 8-1 on the road at Wayne State.

1st Doubles

TU - Almeida/Ludena vs. WSU - Keating/Ruocco

TU lost a close 6-8 1st Doubles decision. TU's Almeida and Ludena lost a match that they were poised to win after being up early on in the match. Ludena is recovering from a foot injury and played well despite the loss.

2nd Doubles

TU - Lezama/Frery vs. WSU - Menta/Fazyl Kechai

In an unusual turn of events TU's freshmen duo lost 2-8 at 2nd Doubles. Lezama and Frery had a tough time getting into the match and couldn't compete to their usual standards Saturday.

3rd Doubles

TU - Mangone/Fernandes vs. WSU - Reed/Carlson

In a match that saw TU get down early, an attempted comeback fell just short. TU lost a close 3rd doubles match 5-8 that saw them playing from behind the entire match. The comeback fell just short as the hole was too large for TU to climb out of.

1st Singles

TU - Luis Ludena vs. WSU - Fazyl Kechai

Ludena's return to the singles court was spoiled with a 2-6, 2-6 loss to WSU's Kechai. Ludena looked like he has recovered well from the foot injury, but Kechai was too much to handle for the sophomore and he fell at 1st Singles.

2nd Singles

TU - Pierre Frery vs. WSU - Clement Charriere

TU's Frery was bumped up to 2nd Singles and lost 3-6, 2-6 to WSU's Charriere. Frery couldn't play his usual aggressive style of tennis due to Charriere firing back on all cylinders. Frery struggled early on and seemed to get better as the match went on, but couldn't figure out Charriere in time.

3rd Singles

TU - Elio Lezama Perez vs. WSU - Trey Keating

Lezama played in the 3rd Singles spot for TU, but couldn't come up with a win. Lezama lost 1-6, 5-7 to WSU's Keating. Lezama struggled in the first set, losing a quick 1-6 decision, but he bounced back and played a close second set before dropping that too 5-7. Starting off slow has been a problem for Lezama all year as he struggled to get ahead early.

4th Singles

TU - Nicholas Almeida vs. WSU - Gopinath Menta

Almeida was bumped up to the 4th Singles spot for this match, but couldn't come up with a win for the Dragons. Almeida, similar to Lezama, started off slow losing the first set 2-6 before firing back and playing a close second set. Almeida ultimately dropped the second set 4-6 in a set decided by one break.

5th Singles

TU - Mangone vs. WSU - Harvey Reed

Mangone was the lone win for the Dragons as he played his usual 5th Singles role quite well. Mangone won 6-4, 6-3 with his usual patient play style. Mangone was able to attack after patiently waiting for the right moment. Mangone has been a crutch for TU to rely on all year and proved it again Saturday.

6th Singles

TU - Victor Fernandes vs. WSU - Ryan Carlson

TU's captain lost a close 3-6, 5-7 decision to WSU's Carlson. Fernandes played the match close to the end, but couldn't come up with a victory at 6th Singles. The last set was incredibly close and Fernandes played it until the end losing by a single break.
