The Tiffin University men's basketball team, in the Sunshine State, downed the University of Tampa in double overtime 103-99.

The Dragons scuffled in the 1st half, shooting only 36% from the floor, but held the Tampa Spartans to 38 points to trail by only eight points at the break. Tampa upped their lead to double digits towards the end of the half, but the Dragons were able to cut the deficit to six points before the Spartans hit a jumper to end the half.

At the intermission, Tiffin was led in scoring by Andy Bachman with 10 points. Juwan Johnson contributed six points off the bench, while Chrisean Marsden added five points.

The Dragons offense cranked up their production in the 2nd half, scoring 47 points. Tiffin, trailing 58-50, made their push, using a 15-7 run to tie the contest at 65-65. The Spartans and Dragons played the remainder of the contest at a near draw. With five seconds left in regulation, Tampa stepped to the free throw line needing both throws to force overtime, and they accomplished that feat.

In the first overtime, the Dragons held a four point advantage three separate times, but were unable to seal the deal as Tampa fought back to tie the game at 90-90 with two free throws with two seconds left in OT.

The final overtime period began with an Andy Bachman three point field goal, but Tampa responded, taking a 95-93 lead. Chrisean Marsden's three point play put the Dragons ahead for good, and clutch free throw shooting down the stretch propelled the Dragons to a 103-99 victory.

Tiffin featured three players with 20-points or more, and five in double figures. The Dragons were led by a career high 25 points from Chrisean Marsden, shooting 9 of 13 from the field. Andy Bachman poured in 22 points, Tony Kynard added 21, Juwan Johnson chipped in with 16 off the bench, and Alex Brown pitched in with 11 points.

The win pushes the Dragons back to the .500 mark at 5-5 overall. Tiffin will remain in Florida as they take on Eckerd College tomorrow at 2 p.m.
