The Tiffin University women's basketball team fell at home on Friday evening to the Grand Valley State Lakers by the final score of 73-50.
The 1st quarter was a slow go for both sides, as the Dragons only managed to score nine points on 33% shooting. The Lakers weren't much better, scoring 15 points, while shooting 37% from the floor.
In the 2nd quarter, Grand Valley scored 18 points while holding the Dragons to 14. The Dragons ended the half shooting 33% from the floor and 36% from three. The Lakers hit at a 37% clip from the floor, but held a commanding lead on the boards, out rebounding the Dragons 21-16.
The 3rd quarter is when the contest tilted the way of the Lakers, as they seemed to hit every shot they sent to the rim, scoring 21 points in the quarter, and holding Tiffin to 10 points. In the 4th, TU kept it close, but still were outscored 19-17, and the Lakers cruised to 73-50 win.
The Dragons were led in scoring by Bre Nauman, the only Dragon in double figures, with 17. Ali Schirmer and Jordan Fraley each chipped in with nine points. The game seemed to hinge on the turnover battle, as the Dragons committed 19 miscues to the Lakers 11.
The loss drops TU to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the GLIAC.
