The Tiffin University volleyball team played hard in the first set, but Lake Erie managed to breeze past Tiffin, taking out TU in three sets, 27-25, 25-18, and 25-17.
Tiffin led for the vast majority of the 1st set, and led 24-19 before the wheels fell off the wagon. Serving for set point, the Dragons allowed Lake Erie to win eight of the final nine points to claim set one 27-25. The set was a sloppy one, as the teams combined for 15 attack errors.
The momentum the Storm built after the set one win carried over to set two. Lake Erie ambushed the Dragons, and before Tiffin knew it they were down 20-12, as Lake Erie cruised to a 25-18 set win. The Dragons committed eight attack errors in the set for a .118 hitting percentage. The Storm hit at a .294 mark with 14 kills.
The Dragons had Lake Erie right were they wanted them in the 3rd set, holding a 12-6 lead, but the Dragons fell to pieces, similar to set one. Lake Erie rattled off six points to take a 17-15 lead, and then the Storm thundered ahead on a 8-3 run to down the Dragons 25-17.
For the Dragons, Amanda Curry collected 12 kills and a .375 hitting percentage. Olivia Cobb added 10 kills, and Kasey Adelsperger totaled 7 kills. As a unit, TU committed 23 attack errors, for a .127 team hitting percentage.
TU drops to 10-17 overall and 5-11 in GLIAC play. The Dragons will step back onto the court next Friday, as they host Malone University at 7:00 p.m..
