The Tiffin University volleyball team fell to the Ashland University Eagles on Friday night in four sets, losing set one 25-15, set two 25-16, and set four 25-18. The Dragons did win set three, 25-22.

In set one, the Dragons jumped ahead to 3-0 lead, but the lead was gone in a hurry. Ashland tied the game at 11-11, and then Ashland took flight, using a 14-4 run to end the set. Ashland hit at a .467 clip with only two attack errors. The Dragons only managed to hit at a .065 mark with 8 kills.

Set two saw both teams go back and forth until both teams hit the 10 point mark. After the game reached double digits, Ashland made a short run to jump ahead 16-10. Tiffin was able to fight back to cut the deficit to four, but the Eagles put the set to bed with a 4-0 run to end the game.

In set three, the Dragons were able to rebound and pick up a set. Tiffin rattled off six straight points to claim a 13-7 lead. The Eagles responded with a 7-0 run to regain the lead at 17-16. Tiffin was able to hold the charging Eagles off to win the set 25-22. Tiffin improved their hitting, finishing the set with 12 kills and a .143 hitting percentage.

Set four started off as a close set, and for the majority of time, it stayed close. But the Eagles were able to finish off the Dragons, 25-18. Ashland hit at a .268 clip and 13 kills. Meanwhile, Tiffin managed only a .114 percentage with 9 attack errors.

Tiffin was led at the net by Kasey Adelsperger with 10 kills, 3 solo blocks, and 2 service aces. Amanda Curry added 9 kills, and Olivia Cobb chipped in with 8 kills. Tiffin, as a team, hit only .080, making 29 attack errors and 8 service errors.

Tiffin falls to 10-16 overall and 5-10 in the GLIAC. They will host the Lake Erie College Storm tomorrow at 11:00 a.m..
