The Tiffin University volleyball team fell behind early, never recovered, and ultimately lost 30-28, 25-18, and 25-20.
Set one took a while to wrap up, as neither team was willing to give in. The Dragons led 16-12, but couldn't build upon their lead, as ODU rebounded and ultimately tied the game at 23-23. Tiffin had its chance to put the set on ice, leading 28-27, but the Panthers reeled off three straight points, scoring on a kill, service ace, and a Dragon attack error, to win set one 30-28.
Set two was all Ohio Dominican, as they led the entire set. The Panthers were able to rattle off three straight points three times en route to a 25-18 set win. In the set, ODU hit at a .378 clip, making only two attack errors. Tiffin couldn't get a run together, hitting at a .257 clip with 13 kills.
The final set was not that different than set two, as Ohio Dominican jumped on the Dragons, sprinting ahead to a 13-4 lead. The Dragons did fight back, pulling to within five at 15-10, but the night belonged to the Panthers as they finished off TU 25-20. In the set, the Dragons hit .242 with 11 kills and only three attack errors. The Panthers were a bit better, with a .267 hitting percentage and 17 kills.
Offensively, Tiffin featured three players with double digit kills, with Alexandria Miglin leading the charge with 11 kills and a .556 hitting percentage. Amanda Curry and Olivia Cobb each slammed 10 kills, with Cobb accumulating 9 digs and Curry hitting at a .375 mark. Emily Weithman chipped in with 39 assists, and Taylor Lattimore helped the cause with 16 digs.
The loss drops the Dragons to 10-15 overall and 5-9 in the GLIAC. Tiffin will be back in action this Friday, as they host the Ashland University Eagles at 7:00 p.m.
