Tiffin University (1-2) wasted little time stinging the Yellow Jackets, exploding on a 17-2 run to open the game en route to a 79-68 victory on the road at Cedarville.
The Dragons enjoyed a red hot opening, pushing their lead in the first quarter to 27-9 late in the period before settling for a 36-18 lead after one quarter. Cedarville slowly tried to chip away at the lead but still trailed at the half 53-38 behind 66 percent field goal shooting by TU.
Cedarville outscored TU in the final three quarters, climbing to within striking distance midway through the final quarter, but the Dragons used strong 19 of 20 free throw shooting, including 6 for 6 shooting in the final couple minutes, to put the game away.
Overall TU outshot Cedarville 52 percent to 33 percent, including 52 percent from three point. They also outrebounded the Yellow Jackets 37-27.
Bre Nauman had another solid game, totaling 22 points and 9 rebounds. Alison Schirmer also reached double figures with 15 points, while Jordan Fraley added 12 points with 7 rebounds. Kaylee Patton gave TU four players in double digits, finishing with 11. Deidre McKay also had 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.
