The offense never seemed to get on track in Tiffin University's football finale at Ohio Dominican, as the Panthers stymied TU's high octane offense for a 22-7 victory.
After ODU got a 34 yard field goal at the 11:54 mark of the opening period, the Dragons looked to get the offense rolling. They put together a 11 play, 76 yard drive that ended with a 3 yard touchdown pass from Antonio Pipkin to Jalen Santoro at the 6:32 mark to take a 7-3 lead.
ODU got another field goal, this one from 35 yards to make the score 7-6 at the 11:36 mark of the second quarter. The rest of the first half turned into a battle of field goals, with the Panthers missing two tries and TU missing a 40 yard kick as time expired in the first half. Still, TU held the narrow 7-6 lead heading to the second half.
The Panthers' defense, though, refused to break, holding TU to just 235 total yards of offense in the game while putting 16 points up after halftime. OD took the lead 12-7 after a 1 yard run at the 9:12 mark of the third, then booted a 53 yard field goal to make it 15-7. They put the game away at 7:41 of the fourth quarter with a 3 yard run.
ODU totaled 460 yards of offense and held edges of 262 to 138 in passing and 198 to 97 in rushing. They also held a 23-12 edge in first downs while holding TU to just 3 for 13 on third downs. They also had a big time of possession edge (38:43 to 21:17).
Pipkin finished 17 for 35 with one interception for just 138 yards. Chris Watkins led the rushers with 62 yards on 10 carries. Pedro Correa III had 58 yards receiving on 4 catches while Charles Holland had 39 yards on 7 catches.
Defensively Carrington Contee had 13 tackles, while Stefan Willis also had 11 stops. Willie Mays had 9 tackles with a sack and tackle for loss, while Justin Herrnstein had 9 tackles and a tackle for loss. Vinny Jones added 8 tackles with a sack and 1.5 TFL, while Victor Cave added a sack and TFL and Shawn Scott had an interception.
