The Tiffin University Volleyball team stepped out of conference on Tuesday night, going to play the Ursuline College Arrows. The Dragons made it a short visit, sweeping the Arrows, 25-19, 25-19, and 25-13.
In set one, the Dragons fell behind early 6-4, but managed to fight back and tie the score at 7-7. The Dragons and Arrows traded shots for the majority of the set, but the Dragons figured it out and made a quick 9-5 run to finish off set one 25-19.
The second set started off with Tiffin jumping out to a big 8-1 lead, and ultimately extending it to 15-6. Ursuline kept it close in the later stages of the set, but the Arrows dug too deep of a hole to climb out of, as Tiffin took a two set lead with another 25-19 set win.
In the final set of the night, Tiffin made quick work of Ursuline, scoring eight straight points, and hitting at a .276 clip while holding Ursuline to a .088 hitting percentage. The Dragons finished the set and the match with a 25-13 set three win.
Offensively, the Dragons had numerous contributors. Alexandria Miglin led all participants with 8 kills to go along with her .294 hitting percentage. Amanda Curry finished with 7 kills, while Jillian Campbell added 6 kills and two solo blocks. As a unit, the Dragons hit at a .221 mark, converting 39 kills. Defensively, they held Ursuline to 30 kills and a measly .102 hitting percentage. Tiffin collected six blocks as a team, and the defensive specialist Taylor Lattimore recorded 18 digs.
The win moves the Dragons to 10-12 overall. They will be back in action on Friday, jumping back into GLIAC play, as they travel to Findlay to take on the Oilers at 7:00 p.m.
