Box Score $website.include("options")

The Tiffin University Dragons dug too deep a 1st half hole to climb out of, and the Lake Erie College Storm made sure the Dragons didn't climb out, winning 76-54.

The Dragons scored the first two buckets of the game, and led for the first 5:27 of the game, but Lake Erie wouldn't go away. The Dragons' shooting went cold and the Storm seized the moment. Lake Erie took the lead for good at the 13:17 mark in the first half with a Nick Deitsch three, and never looked back. That three was the beginning of a 15-4 run that pushed Lake Erie out in front by a score of 30-16. The Storm took a 36-21 lead to the half. At the half, the Dragons were 9-25 from the field, 2-10 from deep, and 1-3 at the free throw line. Meanwhile, Lake Erie shot 45.2% from the field, 30.8% from three, and 4-4 at the charity stripe. The Lake Erie bench produced 20 of the 36 Storm points.

The following half saw both sides trade baskets, but then Andy Bosley brought down the house with an alley-oop dunk. The Dragons fought hard, but could never recover from the first half deficit. The Storm lead remained at 15 points or more, and at one point was extended to as much as 24 points. The Dragons did improve their shooting in the second half, jumping up almost eight percentage points, to 43.8%. The issue was that Lake Erie never cooled down, improving their shooting percentage and finishing the game at 46% from the field. Furthermore, the Storm were relentless in the paint, holding a 43-31 advantage in rebounding and 38-24 advantage in paint points.

The Dragons were led in scoring by Alex Brown with 13 points and 7 boards. Mike Brown added 10 points and was 2 of 4 from downtown. Lake Erie finished with four players over ten points, Andy Bosley had 18, Jamil Dudley, Nick Deitsch, and Nick Wells all finished with 12 points.

The loss drops the Dragons to 6-14 overall and 2-11 in GLIAC play. The Ashland Eagles make their way to the Old Fort Bank Court on Saturday for a 3 pm scheduled start time.
